Retirement is typically the plan when most people consider what will happen after decades of working in the business world. Wanda Knight, however, had a completely different idea. Having led the technology industry for 25 years, she has made the decision to pursue a new career path as a digital creator rather than take a step back. We had a conversation with Wanda about her daring career change, her love of encouraging women, and her future plans.
Q: Wanda, after such a long and successful career in tech sales, why make this change now?
Wanda: I didn’t want to wait for “someday.” I wanted to live my passions now. For me, that meant finding a way to combine my love for leadership with creativity, fashion, beauty, and lifestyle.
Q: Your background wasn’t originally in technology, was it?
Wanda: No, not at all. I actually studied finance. But during college, I landed an internship at a Fortune 500 technology company. That experience completely changed my career path, and it became the foundation for the journey I’ve had in sales. Over the years, I was honored with awards like Salesperson of the Year and Sales Leader of the Year. But the recognition that means the most is when my team voted me one of the Best People Leaders. That meant I wasn’t just achieving results—I was making a difference in people’s careers.
Q: You’re still a senior executive at a Fortune 100 company. How do you balance that with building a digital brand?
Wanda:It’s definitely a balance, but I thrive on challenge. In my corporate role, I’m responsible for creating enterprise strategies and mentoring top-performing teams. Outside of work, I use that same energy to grow my digital presence. My content is more than style—it’s about empowerment. I want women, especially those over 40, to see that change is not only possible but also powerful.
Q: A lot of people fear change later in life. What gave you the courage to take this leap?
Wanda:For me, reinvention wasn’t optional—it was necessary. I’ve always been curious, bold, and strategic, and those qualities gave me the confidence to try something new while still managing my career. I don’t see 40 or 50 as limits; I see them as opportunities to expand.
Q: Travel seems to play a big role in your content. Can you tell us more about that?
Wanda:Travel inspires me endlessly. I’ve visited 38 countries so far, and each one has shaped how I see the world. From Paris to Dubai to Cape Town, every experience brings something new to my perspective—and I bring that into my content. My audience isn’t just getting fashion tips; they’re getting a window into different cultures and ways of living.
Q: What’s next for you in this new chapter?
Wanda: This is only the beginning. I plan to launch mentorship programs, collaborate with brands, and expand my volunteer work to support women who want to reinvent themselves. My mission is to encourage women everywhere to live courageously and embrace change. Reinvention doesn’t mean erasing the past—it means taking everything you’ve learned and starting exactly where you are.
